Critic: Bruce Lindsey
Fall 2020 | Core Studio, Quarter-semester Project
St. Louis, MO
The project Twist is a interative furniture design for the kids between 5-8. The transformative form of the furniture encourages the kids to explore different configurations and assembly of the furntures. The changing form also contribute to 5 different functions of this furniture:
1. Rest. Rest contributes to a child’s physical and mental growth, aids in learning and retention and keeps them active and cheerful.
2. Socialize. Social interaction helps youn children to start to develop their sense of self, and also start to learn what others expect from them.
3. Explore. Facilitating education by exploration, especially with young children, can help them develop a strong sense of self by allowing them to investigate topics, objects, scenarios, and more that interest them.
4. Play. Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength.
5. Self-actualize. Self-actualization allows the child to exert all their energy into developing themself, and understanding themself.
