Located along Delmar Blvd., in St. Louis, Missouri, the Hodiamont tracks in a long alley down in the West End neighborhood. Although the alley has existing planters along the tracks, it remains opportunities for a more cozy and welcome landscape space for the community.
The proposal protects most of the plants on the sites, as well as the existing materiality including the playground, while creates a new curve pathway that better connects the space. Plants selected are a combination of ground covers, shrubs, and trees. The three types of mixes of ground covers are the most important plants that structures the flowing height, given the visitors a changing view with visions and colors when walking along the pathway. Trees including Sweetgum and Red Cedar furthers offers seasonal colors and changes to the site, and provides people with shadows and dappled sunlight.
