The dual natural of the French word “entente” shows that the understanding and the listening seem to be in tension with one another - in order to listen, one cannot stand still in any one place; sound waves disperse in a manner that the unmovable posture of the exegetical hermeneut’s eye cannot follow, projecting on the choice of the site of my jewelry that embodies the ear and becomes a machine that functions as the second skin that blurs the boundary of gender and sex. The continuous and fluid form of the piece of my jewelry connects the inner ear with the outer world, that becomes the protection of the unprivileged organ and redefines the relationship between surface and embodiment. The rendering with tableware creates a setting that the unprevailed are the usually consumed (edible) ones, while the lighting adds on the lens that implies on the orientalist which sets discourse on decorations but here critiqued by a functional wearable technology that services as surveillance of race and gender.
